A great way to discern if someone is a heretic, charlatan, or false prophet is to ask this question - Is what this person is saying more in alignment with propping up an empire system way of thinking and believing, or is more in line with the kingdom of God and what God has always been about based on what we see in the theme of the Scriptures.

So then the question becomes, what is that theme in Scripture. When I read Scripture, I see a few consistent and interlocking themes - Shalom (wholeness and completeness and peace), Imago Dei - Image of God that instills worth inherent in creation, Stewardship, Community, Accompaniment with those on the margins, and liberation. The messages of heretics, charlatans, and false prophets, as you have noted, are more in line with self enrichment, maintaining a status quo that separates people into a hierarchy, a focus on productivity bringing worth, and of course, money.
