Great article. I have found that although many people speak the same language (English), it is pretty clear that how people define common words is not universal. Take "freedom" for example. There are two primary ways that people define the term - freedom from and freedom to. So when you get to a term like religious freedom, you can define it like the Constitution and the founders which starts with a basis of freedom from being imposed upon, which allows people the freedom to believe what they want, or you can define it the way that Christian Nationalists (and so many before them tracing this strain back to the Puritans) do/did, by saying that religious freedom is the freedom to impose, so that people are free to follow the "truth" as they define it. I have gotten into the habit of asking people to define what they mean when certain words are used - freedom, liberty, religion, Jesus, faith, politics, truth, science, rights, etc.
