Great article! We proclaim life, death, and resurrection, but more often than not it seems that churches fear the death part - which at its core means we aren't in control. You can't experience resurrection without going through death. Sticking with what worked in the past while ignoring the present need is really about fear of something dying in a church - maybe the church itself, or a belief, or a structure, or an attitude, or whatever. And when we fail to mourn the past, we never move to the present to see what is present and where God is already at work and inviting us to participate in. And when we aren't in the present, we can't see the future of where we are being sent.
