Have you considered that maybe clear instructions was never the point? Jesus uses parables and rejects giving a direct answer more often than not. Clear instructions and knowing the right answer only became extremely important during the Enlightenment. I don’t see the Bible as an instruction manual. I think it loses so much when it is seen that way.
