I came to the conclusion that the best way to help the church to change/transformation/reformation or whatever you want to call it is to do two things

1. Help churches to die. The church claims to believe in life, death, and resurrection. We should help them live into that. You can't get to resurrection until you go through death. The church is the body of Christ, and all bodies have a life span. Revitalization, I have concluded, is an effort to skip over or avoid death. It won't work. Only in death do congregations finally let go of control. This death can be literally shutting the congregation down, or a death that forces them to let go of control, be open to what God is at work doing, and a resurrection that ensures that the congregation is in fact different in how it operates.

2. Attention should be diverted to new mission launches in which there is an assumption that the mission will have a limited life span.
