I'm always amazed and amused by the arguments that we don't have enough money for (fill in the blank). Usually it's health care. But we have trillions available for weapons to kill more people. We seem addicted to death, and run away from anything associated with improving lives. But American Civic Religion is a strong force. Labeling someone as not being patriotic will usually silence most people if they oppose expending more money on the military and means of destruction.
