Lauren, I'm curious what your realistic expectations are. This is a serious question. The reality of the House of Representatives is that the minority party has very limited power to do anything, except slow things down that the majority is advancing. It's not the same as the Senate. The Democrats can't get legislation to the floor for a vote - they literally don't have the power to do that. And they don't chair committees, so they don't have the power to determine what bills will be brought before those committees and what the hearings will be before those committees. They don't get to set the agenda of the House. They don't set the rules. They don't determine what will happen in the House. That is the actual reality of the situation for Jeffries and the Democrats. I'd love to hear your suggestions of how they can move legislation forward that would advance higher wages, medicare for all, free public college, etc while they are unable to control the agenda, the rules, the committees, the floor of the House. I'm not being sarcastic - I'm asking a serious question. Beyond theatrics, I really don't know what else they can do right now. Please help me understand. Thank you.
