Prayer for December 2, 2020: Please pray with me. God beyond words, what shall we say? Sometimes we don’t have the words. Sometimes we are speechless, and yet we keep talking anyway. We are without appropriate words to say praises of you. We are also without appropriate words in mourning, frustration, confusion, despair, and more. The world, its systems, and beliefs can cause us to be speechless. We struggle to make sense of things that do not make any sense. And we are left without the appropriate words. Yet, you are the Word. When we pray, our prayers go beyond words. When you encounter us, it goes beyond human language. Your word is not contained by mere letters. What shall we say? Sometimes nothing. You encounter us and know us. And that is enough. Amen.
