Prayer for December 30, 2021: Please pray with me. God of beginnings and endings, here we are in what we think of as the middle. But aren’t we always at the beginning, the middle, and the end? Something new is starting, whether we recognize it or not. There is always something new starting. Life is always coming in. We sense the middleness of things — that stuff has been going on and will continue. It gives us a sense of control, even though that is foolish. And things are always coming to an end. Many that we prefer did not. But this is not new. You are a God who proclaims life, death, and resurrection. A God of the ends and what’s in the middle. A God who spans time. We are mere blips in the existence of time. The fact that you remember us at all is amazing. And yet, you go beyond remembering to promising. You promise so much to us — life, renewed life, resurrected life. You promise to be with us. You are with us. Thank you. Amen.
