Prayer for December 31, 2021: Please pray with me. God of time, we come to the end of another year. We are ready to begin a new one. We had hopes and expectations for 2021 that didn’t pan out. It’s been a rough year for many — uncertainty, death, loss, disease, and more. But let us not forget the blessings of this year also — a vaccine, creativity, the outdoors, gratitude, discovery, and more. Lord, let us go in to 2022 with a renewed attitude — that we are moving closer to your embrace. That we are called to live out the faith that you give us. That we are called to see the image of God in all others. Let us go into this new year not with unreasonable expectations, but with a vision of your kingdom and what it means to be in the unfolding kingdom of God. Let us live into it, in spite of what the world and the year holds. Let us not be distracted by others who want to turn us away from you. Let us focus on the path ahead and live into the new year with faith. Amen.
