Prayer for January 17, 2022: Please pray with me. God of justice, we pray to you. We thank for you people like Martin Luther King, Jr., who walked among us proclaiming your Good News. He took to heart your proclamation of Shalom in the form of the beloved community. He worked for justice for those who were oppressed. He wrote words of truth as many of your followers have — from prison. He kept going and offered hope and vision. We ask that you raise up more MLK, Jrs to speak up this day for justice. We pray that the moral arc of the universe is bent towards justice. Let justice flow over us. And let us be transformed by it. Amen.

Call to Action: What is one way that you can speak up for justice today? To speak up for those whose voice has been silenced. To work to ensure that people’s rights are secure. To work at dismantling unjust systems that repress. Or maybe to just get out of our own situation — to see that our own experience is not what everyone else experiences.
