Prayer for March 31, 2022: Please pray with me. God who sees the big picture, forgive us when we become focused on ourselves and our own experience. We lose sight of what happens to others. Of how they suffer. We make excuses for why their suffering is just not as important. Sometimes we even completely dismiss other’s experiences entirely. We come to believe that our experience is the norm and that everyone else’s experience is measured against our own. God forbid the same measuring stick be used against us. Martin Luther described sin as turning inward on oneself. Forgive us when we sin. Straighten us up to look out ward, to see the image of God in others, to see you Lord. Amen.

Call to Action: Listen when someone tells you their story and their situation. Instead of judging it based on what you would have done given your own experiences and circumstances, just listen. Don’t judge. Listen and have compassion.
