Prayer for October 28, 2021

Prayer for October 28, 2021: Please pray with me. God of those who don’t know what to pray, here we are. We are at a loss for words lately. Ok, maybe lately doesn’t really cut it. We’ve been at a loss for words for some time — maybe even years, possibly decades for some of us. You offer a way to live that frees people, that brings healing, that ends abuse and exploitation, that allows life to thrive. You offer this and yet so many look at it and reject it. It makes no sense. The world offers the status quo — fear, hatred, division, greed, violence, and more. Yet so many think this is better, I guess? Why else would so many continue to live the ways of the world? I don’t know. I don’t understand. I’m at a loss. Even many who claim to be your followers give lip service to you while turning and following these other ways. I don’t get it. I’m at a loss. I’m not looking for the words to explain it. I don’t want to understand why someone who claim to follow you and then do the exact opposite of what you call on followers to do. I don’t want to understand the ways of fear, hatred, division, greed, violence, and more. I don’t want to understand any of it. I want to live differently. And I want people to be set free from these ways. So they can know what true freedom is, what love actually is, what healthy relationship are, what faith is really about. Amen.

Call to Action: Don’t worry about the words for today. You probably don’t have them anyway. Today, pray to God in silence. Say nothing. Think nothing. Just be present and notice. Notice where God is showing up. Notice where God is offering grace and mercy. Notice.
