Prayer for October 31
Prayer for October 31: Please pray with me. God of reformation and transformation. God of wisdom and justice. We cry out to you this day. It is a day of many things. Today we remember how you continually reform your church, in spite of the opposition from those in charge of it and those that insist on maintaining the status quo — no matter how unjust the systems of the church may be at times. Today we celebrate Halloween in the US and ask for safety for all those who participate and a softening of hearts of those who try to make kids grow up and squash their imaginations and fun. Today we pray that wisdom, justice, and truth might prevail as the US House of Representatives votes on a resolution for the rules of the Impeachment process. Lord, there are many other things that we lift up to you — oh so many. We pray for those experiencing poverty and homelessness. We pray for those experiencing brokenness in relationships. We pray for peace — your peace. We pray that those who are hungry may be fed. We pray that those who need clothes get them. We pray that we have the courage to welcome the stranger. We pray for the sick. We pray for those in bondage. It’s all in your hands. Use us as instruments of you will, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and peace to participate in the unfolding of your kingdom right here and right now. We need this Lord. We need you. Amen.
