Thanks for writing this. It inspired me to take two verses of scripture and put them into a modern context. Here's what I wrote:

I took Micah 6:6-8 and offered a modern day take given our context of mass shootings in this country. ‘With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with thoughts, with prayers? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of social media posts, with tens of thousands of words devoid of action? Shall I give my firstborn for an object of death that is idolized, the fruit of my body for the sin of my nation?’ He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of youbut to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Here's a modern adaptation of Amos 5:21-24. I hate, I despise your book bans, and I take no delight in your drag show bans either. Even though you offer me your thoughts and prayers, I will not accept them; and the offerings of well-being of your fatted checking accounts I will not look upon. Take away from me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the melody of your praise music. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
