The Confederacy may have been defeated militarily, but it never truly died. One just needs to go to Stone Mountain in Atlanta to see the living tribute in stone, shaped like an outdoor cathedral, to see the theology of the Confederacy and how it continues to live. Until we treat the Confederacy and everything that it stood for as treason and heresy, this kind of crap will continue. Of course it's far more complicated than that and racism extends beyond the Confederacy, but this would be a healthy start.
