The irony of the concern for reputitional damage is that protecting the institution from critique and responsibility of hiding abuse creates more reputational damage than if they would just deal with it in the first place. This is true of all churches. Why trust an institution that doesn't have people's safety as a priority? Institutions are always looking at what they have to loose and trying to hold on to it - all the while they are losing so much constantly.
