Unfortunately I don't think it's as simple as the north/south divide. I'm in the north, and there are plenty of people who are racists and "don't tell me what to do" attitudes. I think there are actually multiple countries within this country and given the stresses that are taking place and have been going on since the end of the Cold War, I'm not convinced these separate countries with their own values can continue to pretend to be united. Regardless of whether there are two nations or more, I agree with the premise that this is not a united nation. Although I doubt the country ever was truly united. History shows nothing but continuous fights over a variety of things.
