Yes, Jesus will always make sure the church survives and thrives. But he never talked about the institution surviving and thriving, or continuing on in its current form, or that there would be an institution at all. And we shouldn't assume that current trends are always going to be permanent trends. They are just the trend right now. We fall into bubbles when we assume that was is currently will always be. Living things change. If the church refuses to change, then is it really alive? And is it really church?
